I have a customer with similar problems that caused a cast iron boiler to leak within 20 years! I posted a video in 2015 with noise issues. Eventually the noise stopped on its own. We just replaced the boiler with an aluminum MOD/CON and are trying to prevent future component failure. This discussion was spot on. I want to thank @Jim100Flower for being so persistent in resolving the problem. Also thanks to @kcopp , @hot_rod , @"archibald tuttle" and @Eastman for all your input and help to Jim100Flower. All the information needed to explain the problem to my customer and proposing preventative measures was already here in one thread. THANK YOU...THANK YOU ... THANK YOU :)
